Ensemble Cymru trustees, employees, and performers were saddened to learn of the sudden death of Dr David Evans.
As musicologist, horn player and raconteur Dr Evans had an infectious enthusiasm for music and life. His passion for rediscovering and helping us to learn about and understand our musical heritage coupled with his extensive knowledge and insight as a musicologist and his love of performing will be sorely missed.
Many previously lost manuscripts would never have seen the light of day without David and many a student’s educational experience would be much the poorer. His passing will touch many lives throughout Wales. For countless numbers of students who have passed through Bangor University’s School of Music, David was someone who significantly enriched their experience of learning and life.
All of us associated with Ensemble Cymru send our condolences to his family, former colleagues at Bangor University, students, publishing colleagues and friends.
Dr David Evans joined the board of trustees in 2012 bringing us his in depth teaching, researching and publishing experience alongside his infectious enthusiasm for live performances of Welsh music.
