With the Pedr a’r Blaidd<\/i> tour less than four weeks away we are super excited here at Ensemble Cymru! Music is currently being rehearsed by the performers, tickets are being sold and last minute arrangements are being made by the Marketing team to ensure a smooth running for the first week of March when the Ensemble Orchestra will be visiting venues across Wales with its performance of Pedr a’r Blaidd<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Kate Boucher, Marketing officer for Ensemble Cymru gives us the inside scoop of the how things are going on the promotional side of things this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur afternoon performances are proving popular with the schools and tickets are really starting to fly out which is great news! However there\u2019s still work to be done in attracting audiences to our evening performances so we\u2019ll be giving these some extra promotion over the coming weeks\u201d.<\/p>\n

She also informs me that it is well worth keeping your eyes peeled for the exclusive video trailer for the Peter and the Wolf<\/i> show which will be making its appearance on the website over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

For those of you who are new to the performance, you are in for a treat. Pedr a’r Blaidd<\/i> \u2013 or Peter and the Wolf<\/i> \u2013 is a story of Russian origins of a boy Peter and his journey through the woods and the interactions of the animals along the way. Characters which are played by instruments in the story include Peter, a bird, the duck, the cat, the grandfather and the wolf.<\/p>\n

S4C\u2019s Dona Direida (Elain Llwyd)<\/a> will be introducing the story and the Ensemble Instruments to the audience. Dona Direida is a popular children\u2019s entertainer on S4C and is known well for her catchy rap music and wild pink dress sense.<\/p>\n

The performance will be accompanied by the images of Marc Vyvyan Jones <\/a>who has illustrated for various children\u2019s books such as Hairy Tree Man<\/i> by Andrew Wright, Eric\u2019s Elephant<\/i> by John Gatehouse and The Witches Brew and Other Poems<\/i> by Wes Magee.<\/p>\n

We are also looking forward to the delightful narration of Rhys Ifans <\/a>the Welsh actor who has featured in films such as Notting Hill<\/i> (1999) as Spike and more recently in The Amazing Spiderman <\/i>(2012) as The Lizard and Dr. Curt Connors. Rhys has also been involved with some musical collaboration with Perth and Welsh music group Super Furry Animals.<\/p>\n

So a very exciting line up for those of you attending. This week we want know your thoughts about the story: What does Peter and the wolf mean to you? \u201cMae ein perfformiadau prynhawn yn profi\u2019n boblogaidd ymysg yr ysgolion, a llawer iawn o fynd ar y tocynnau, sy\u2019n newydd gwych! Fodd bynnag, mae gwaith i\u2019w wneud o hyd i ddenu cynulleidfaoedd i\u2019n perfformiadau gyda\u2019r nos, felly byddwn yn rhoi ychydig yn fwy o gyhoeddusrwydd i\u2019r rhain yn ystod yr wythnosau i ddod.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dona Direida (Elain Llwyd)<\/a> o S4C fydd yn cyflwyno\u2019r hanes ac Offerynnau\u2019r Ensemble i\u2019r gynulleidfa. Mae Dona Direida yn ddiddanwraig boblogaidd i blant ar S4C, ac yn adnabyddus iawn am ei cherddoriaeth rap afaelgar a\u2019i dillad pinc beiddgar.<\/p>\n
