The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2018 has STARTED
Over the next 7 days, every gift donated to Ensemble Cymru via the Big Give will be DOUBLED by match funding. As a small organisation, every gift, no matter it’s size, will have a huge impact on our work. On behalf of everyone at Ensemble Cymru, thank you very much.
Ensemble Cymru has been chosen from thousands of other charities to take part in the UK’s largest online match funding campaign. Through the Big Give, donations made to Ensemble Cymru during a 7-day window are doubled. The chamber music charity has successfully raised thousands of pounds through previous Big Give campaigns, but this year, it has its sights set on its most ambitious target to date.
The 2018 Big Give will be Ensemble Cymru’s fourth outing with the campaign with money from previous years helping to fund a whole range of chamber music projects which have benefitted people and children across Wales, many of whom may not otherwise have access to live chamber music experiences.
A pledge pot of £9,800 has already been raised by Ensemble Cymru but this money can only be unlocked through online donations made via the Big Give website www.thebiggive.org.uk from 12pm on Tuesday 27th November through until 12pm on the following Tuesday 4th December. The match funding element means that for every pound that is donated, another £1 is unlocked from the pledge pot – doubling the original donation.
This year, Ensemble Cymru are aiming to raise a massive £19,600 during the 7-day campaign. The money raised will go towards –
- A creative collaborative project with a north Wales primary school
- Reaching communities and new audiences for chamber music with performances outside the concert hall
- Opportunities for emerging musicians and composers to work in Wales.
If you would like to donate during the Big Give campaign but are not confident online, then join Ensemble Cymru at a ‘Donation Station’ where a member of Ensemble Cymru staff will be on hand to take you through the donation process. The ‘Donation Station’ will be available on the following days –
- Venue Cymru, Llandudno (coffee shop) 27th November, 12pm – 2pm
- Pontio, Bangor (Bar Ffynnon) 28th November, 10:30am – 12:30pm
What your donations have helped us achieve
2014 The first ever Welsh language recording of Prokovfiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ with narration by Hollywood actor, Rhys Ifans. The production of ‘Peter and the Wolf’ reached more than 15,000 people through its national tour and S4C broadcast.
2015 A celebration of the music of J.S. Bach over a weekend with events taking place in venues across north Wales involving over 100 professional musicians, community groups, local singers, children and young people in the area.
2016 Two Wales-wide tours, international engagements, work with primary schools and young musicians, performances in hospitals alongside collaborations with new organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society Wales; all designed to bring people closer to Chamber Music.
