Ensemble Cymru, Resident Ensemble at Bangor University and Venue Cymru, Llandudno, is the leading chamber music group performing in Wales.

Our core team of 16 musicians and singers collectively bring outstanding music, joy, learning and inspiration to audiences, schools, communities, students and aspiring musicians. We’re passionate about our music, our Wales’ musical heritage and the communities we work with and for.

Established as a charity in 2002, we aim to retain, attract and develop talent in Wales to co-create outstanding music and experiences that bring Welsh communities together.

Chamber Music in Wales

We are passionate about chamber music and making a difference to people’s lives, with an art form we believe to be extraordinary.

The idea for Ensemble Cymru grew out of a chamber music performance held in the north Wales village of Cilcain to raise funds for a famine in Africa in 1993. The idea grew and developed going through a series of names until the charity was established in 2002.

We are committed to developing talent in Wales. So often people feel that outstanding music or art can only exist in large cities. We think differently. By basing our ensemble in rural Wales, we are committed to working with Welsh communities, in Welsh venues with musicians who are rooted in and passionate about Wales.

Each month, we’ll be sharing a blog from our community of musicians, supporters, and audience members.

We perform across Wales in beautiful places and spaces…
