2020: CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND FIGARO

With our new friends, at Oriel Myrddin we created online activities for primary school children in lockdown.

Working with Dyfed Young Composers, we created recordings of 67 pieces by young composers of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire as well as holding virtual workshops for 20 of these young composers led by composer Lynne Plowman.

During lockdown, we redesigned our 6-month residency in Ysgol Tudno (Llandudno) to work online.  We held weekly virtual activities for children and staff of Ysgol Tudno.  The residency was inspired by a chamber orchestra’s programme in Bremen, and by the 5 Ways to Well-being.  Through the project the team have supported children’s and staff’s mental well-being and the children’s development as confident and aspirational learners.

With our friends in Mid Wales Opera, our performance of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro attracted praise from the Sunday Times before lockdown.

2019: REACHING PEOPLE THROUGH SCHUBERT:

Highlights of our autumn tour to venues across Wales included: our visit to the Blind Veterans Centre in north Wales ; our performance for sufferers of Dementia and their carers in Holyhead; our pre-concert Schubert sing in Bangor with the Bangor University Chamber Choir; and an open rehearsal in front of primary school children in Llandudno.    more

2018: MEET THE COMPOSERS:

Through means of pre-concert performances to our tour across Wales, we provided opportunities for Welsh composers living and working in Wales to bring their works before a wider audience and showcase the wealth and depth of talent in Wales. .  more

2017: CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE:

Alongside Community and outreach events, Ensemble Cymru works closely with primary schools to take Chamber Music into the classroom and provide additional support for Music education in Wales. Ensemble Cymru musicians worked with pupils at Ysgol Pendalar (Caernarfon) and Ysgol Hafod Lon (Pwllheli).  During our two main season concert tours, Ensemble Cymru musicians performed for patients and their families at Llandudno Hospital.
