Ensemble Cymru and North Wales International Music Festival have joined forces to celebrate Wales\u2019s first National Chamber Music Day on Friday 28th<\/sup> September 2018. This free event will showcase the wealth of chamber music on offer in the region, with live performances from Ensemble Cymru, Welsh National Opera, Rhyl Music Club, Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias and NEW Sinfonia.<\/h4>\n

Anne Denholm, Ensemble Cymru’s Principal Harpist, is one of the performers taking part<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Taking place at St Asaph Cathedral, the Chamber Music Morning also offers a unique opportunity for classical and chamber music fans to find out what events are taking place across Wales over the coming months. Representatives from music organisations such as OPRA Cymru, Wrexham Symphony Orchestra and Mid Wales Opera along with leading local venues including Pontio and Venue Cymru will be present with information to take away about upcoming classical and chamber music concerts and events.<\/p>\n

Mary Hofman a Richard Ormrod will launch Rhyl Music Club’s ‘Beethoven in Wales’ season at the event<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Talking about the purpose of chamber music morning, Peryn Clement-Evans, Artistic Director of Ensemble Cymru, explained; \u201cThis Chamber Music Morning is the first of an annual event to celebrate the contribution of Wales\u2019 promoters, ensembles, composers and musicians to the world of chamber music. Over the next five years Ensemble Cymru and its partners will be seeking to make this a national event.\u00a0 On behalf of all the organisations we\u2019d like to thank the North Wales International Music Festival and the Arts Council of Wales for their commitment to this project.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ann Atkinson, Artistic Director of the North Wales International Music Festival said \u201cWe are thrilled as a Festival to be able to host this event that gives such focus and highlights chamber music in Wales. The cathedral is the ideal venue for chamber music and the beauty of this form of classical music can be truly appreciated during this event\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Guy of NEW Sinfonia will also perform<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

In celebrating the breadth of chamber music available in the area, young musicians from Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias will perform alongside established professional chamber musicians such as Ensemble Cymru\u2019s principal harpist, and current Royal Harpist, Anne Denholm, and also Welsh National Opera soprano, Claire Watkins. Rhyl Music Club will also launch their new season \u2018Beethoven in Wales\u2019 at the concert, with a performance from violin and piano duo, Mary Hofman and Richard Ormrod.<\/p>\n

Chamber Music Morning will take place on Friday September 28th<\/sup> 10:30am at St Asaph Cathedral<\/strong>. This is a free event and no ticket or pre-booking is required.
