May Concert in Aberystwyth
After 15 years of music-making, our expanded ensemble enables an arresting programme for May 2018 that is truly diverse in both time and place. From Wales, we are absolutely thrilled to perform works by two living Welsh composers: a brand new commission from Gareth Glyn, as well as Emerging (lightly) by Aberdyfi-based Rhian Samuel. From the 20th century is the rarely-performed gem, Nonet, by England’s great Arnold Bax, alongside Debussy’s Dances for Harp and String Quintet, conceived as a harp ‘showcase’. Going right back to 1738, Handel’s remarkable Harp Concerto Op. 4, No. 6 draws on nearly all our varied instrumental forces for this exciting season.
With thanks to Gaynor Cemlyn-Jones Trust for supporting Ensemble Cymru’s International Chair for the Harp for the second year.
We hope your can join us for Ensemble Cymru’s classical music concert in Aberystwyth this May.
A Prelude Concert ‘Composers Spotlight’ will take place before this event, more information here.
