A week on the road with Ensemble Cymru

Between Wednesday 5th December and Friday 7th December, Ensemble Cymru’s Wind Octet travelled around North Wales performing some fantastic works including Beethoven’s Octet, Mozart’s Serenade in C minor, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Krommer’s Octet. Throughout the three days, these fantastic musicians performed to people of all ages, at many venues including places in Pwllheli, Cricieth, Caernarfon, Bangor, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, Cilcain and Holyhead, bringing the beautiful music of the Wind Octet to many areas of North Wales.

Some of the highlights included the joy that the music brought the children of Ysgol Llanystumdwy in Cricieth, after which the children were chanting “French Horn”! (As a horn player myself, I found this fantastic! :D)

The warm reception received at the Bay View Shopping Centre in Colwyn Bay, which even included several people getting up and dancing along to the music.

The Ensemble was going around promoting the Big Give Campaign: ‘The Big Music Challenge’ that they are taking part in this year, raising money to help Ensemble Cymru share their love of music around many communities in North Wales, and helping to bring music to more places. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend the three days touring around North Wales with Ensemble Cymru, and it was truly an honour to be surrounded by some fantastic musicians, brilliant music and lovely people! 🙂
