NOTES OF THANKS!

Ensemble Cymru will be playing notes of thanks to the people of wales and beyond, in a special concert at Llandudno’s Gloddaeth Church at 10.30 on May 23rd. f

The Thank You concert in Llandudno is being held as a thank you gesture to THE BIG GIVE, and the people of Wales and beyond for helping Ensemble Cymru to raise awareness of classical chamber music in Wales.

THE BIG GIVE is a charity that campaigns every year to raise money for other charities by match funding. As a result of its recent campaign before Christmas, Ensemble Cymru was able to raise £25,000. This funding will assist Ensemble Cymru, which is Bangor Univeristy and Venue Cymru’s resident ensemble to take classical chamber music to corners of Wales that are not often given the opportunity to hear or appreciate acclaimed classical chamber music.

Three members of Ensemble Cymru will perform at the Thank You concert, Peryn Clement-Evans (clarinet and Artistic Director of Ensemble Cymru), Nicola Pearce (cello) and Christina Mason-Scheuermann (piano) and the programme will feature works by Schubert, Glinka and Benny Goodman.

As well as enjoying the concert, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and share their ideas about the future of Ensemble Cymru in Llandudno. Peryn Clement-Evans explained further,

“Ensemble Cymru is eager to work more in the Llandudno area, not only by hosting concerts, but also by undertaking activities within the community. Over a cup of tea or coffee and cake at Llandudno’s Gloddaeth Church, in an informal environment, we will have the opportunity to hear from the residents and businesses in Llandudno where they would like to see us perform, what kind of pieces they would like to hear and what kind of community activities they would like to Ensemble Cymru to participate in. This is a pilot scheme and if it is successful we will follow the same system in other parts of Wales over the next few years. “

During the concert in Llandudno, there will be an opportunity to hear a preview of Ensemble Cymru’s autumn concerts when it will launch its #Love Schubert Campaign: a campaign introducing Franz Schubert’s magical music to communities and schools thoughout Wales. All information will be on the Ensemble Cymru website in due course.

End.
